Jiangsu FDI surges in high-tech industry

JIANGSU'S foreign direct investment reached US$13.28 billion last year, up 29.2 percent from a year earlier, Xinhua news agency reported today.
The province approved 320 foreign-investment projects, mainly in electronics, auto, energy, mechanism and chemical industries, especially in advanced technologies, like integrate circuit chips and LCD.
Last year, the province drew US$1.7 billion in foreign investment from the service sector, including logistics, warehouses and infrastructures.
Research and development in the computer, medicine, chemical and software industries also caught the attention of foreign investors, with 25 new R&D centers, software designing companies, and US$120 million in contracted foreign investment.
